What is a short haul move?
This is a move that is less than 450 miles. Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves.

What is a local move?
This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state.

What is an intrastate move?
This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.

How are fees calculated for interstate moves?
Your moving company may charge you a set fee which depends on the inventory of your items and delivery timeframe. They may also charge you based on the weight or volume of your items.

What is a bulkhead?
This is a divider or partition that separates your items from the rest of the trailer or moving truck.

Why is my city not listed on the ?to city? drop down?

Should I store items that won’t fit in my new home?
You can choose to store items that won’t fit. However, if you have items that are old or have little value, you may be better to sell or donate them instead of paying the high cost of storing them for a long period.

What is long carry?
You may be charged an additional fee if the moving van can’t come within a certain distance from the entrance of your destination. This is generally 75 feet, but you need to check with your particular moving company.

Do I have to tip movers?
Tips are certainly not mandatory. However, you may want to consider tipping your movers and packers for the service they provide, depending on their quality and professionalism. If employees have gone above and beyond their job, they will certainly appreciate being rewarded for a job well done.

What is full-value coverage?
If you purchase this type of coverage, your moving company will either replace a damaged or lost item with an article of similar kind and value, pay you for the replacement cost, repair the item or pay you the cost of any necessary repairs.

If I’m moving internationally, how will I know which items I can’t bring with me?
Your moving company should provide you with a list of custom regulations for your destination country. This document will indicate which items are prohibited or restricted by the particular country.

Will my moving company have extra packing materials?
Most moving companies will provide you with extra materials during the day of the move for an additional cost.

What are wardrobes? ?
These are special boxes that are designed to hold your clothes. Some come equipped with a hanging rod and can fit clothing from up to 3 linear feet of closet space.
